CVE-2026-94127
Overview
This vulnerability is a heap-based buffer overflow (CWE-122) in the F5 BIG-IP Access Policy Manager (APM) component when configured as an OAuth Authorization Server. The flaw arises from improper handling of specific OAuth profile inputs within the virtual server's access policy, allowing crafted malicious traffic to corrupt memory. The issue affects the data plane processing path of BIG-IP APM when OAuth authorization server profiles are active, leading to uncontrolled execution flow.
Vulnerability Description
When a BIG-IP APM access policy and an OAuth profile are configured on a virtual server, specific malicious traffic can lead to remote code execution (RCE). This vulnerability is only present when BIG-IP APM is configured as an OAuth Authorization Server. Deployments using APM strictly as an OAuth Client / Resource Server (without OAuth authorization server profiles configured) are not affected by this vulnerability. Impact: This vulnerability allows an unauthenticated attacker to perform remote code execution. The BIG-IP system in Appliance mode is also vulnerable. This is a data plane issue; there is no control plane exposure. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.
Impact
An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code remotely on the BIG-IP system, gaining full control over the affected device. This enables complete compromise of the data plane, potentially leading to unauthorized access, data exfiltration, or disruption of network traffic managed by the BIG-IP appliance. The attack does not require valid credentials or user interaction, increasing the risk of widespread exploitation in exposed environments.
Solution
F5 Networks has released patches addressing this vulnerability in their security advisory K000162605. Administrators should update BIG-IP APM to the fixed versions specified in the advisory and verify that OAuth Authorization Server profiles are configured securely. Detailed patch instructions and version-specific fixes are available at https://my.f5.com/manage/s/article/K000162605. No alternative workarounds are recommended by the vendor.
