CVE-2026-7273
Overview
This vulnerability is a stack-based buffer overflow occurring within the CGI program of the Zyxel GS1900-48HPv2 firmware. It results from improper bounds checking on input data processed by the CGI component, allowing excessive data to overwrite the stack memory. The flaw specifically affects firmware versions up to 2.90(ABTQ.1)C0, compromising the integrity of the device's HTTP request handling subsystem.
Vulnerability Description
A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in the CGI program of Zyxel GS1900-48HPv2 firmware versions through 2.90(ABTQ.1)C0 could allow a LAN-based, unauthenticated attacker to exploit the flaw and potentially execute OS commands via a crafted HTTP request.
Impact
An unauthenticated attacker on the local area network can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary operating system commands with the privileges of the affected device. This can lead to full device compromise, enabling unauthorized control over network traffic and configuration. No user interaction or credentials are required, increasing the risk of lateral movement within the internal network and potential disruption of network services.
Solution
Zyxel has released a security advisory recommending upgrading the GS1900-48HPv2 firmware to versions later than 2.90(ABTQ.1)C0 to address this buffer overflow vulnerability. Administrators should apply the update as detailed in Zyxel’s official advisory at https://www.zyxel.com/global/en/support/security-advisories/zyxel-security-advisory-for-stack-based-buffer-overflow-vulnerability-in-gs1900-series-switches-06-16-2026. No alternative workarounds are provided.
