CVE-2026-58115

CRITICAL Pub 11/08 Upd 12/08

Overview

This vulnerability is an authentication bypass affecting the Node-RED HTTP interface component of Siemens SIMATIC IoT2050 Advanced devices running Industrial OS with Node-RED installed. The root cause is the absence of enforced authentication on the HTTP interface, which exposes programming nodes that can execute system commands. This lack of access control on the Node-RED service allows unauthenticated users to interact directly with the server's command execution functionality.

Vulnerability Description

A vulnerability has been identified in SIMATIC IoT2050 Advanced (6ES7647-0BA00-1YA2) (All versions < V4.3.4.1 running Industrial OS with Node-RED installed). Affected devices do not enforce authentication on the Node-RED HTTP interface, allowing unauthenticated access to programming nodes that are capable of executing system commands on the server. This could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to create malicious flows through the HTTP interface in order to execute arbitrary code on the underlying server with maximum privileges.

Impact

An unauthenticated remote attacker can gain full control of the affected device by creating malicious Node-RED flows that execute arbitrary commands with maximum privileges on the server. This enables complete system compromise, including data manipulation, disruption of industrial processes, and lateral movement within the network. No authentication or user interaction is required, making the device vulnerable to remote exploitation and potentially causing severe operational and security impacts for industrial environments.

Solution

Siemens has released an advisory (SSA-834709) recommending updating SIMATIC IoT2050 Advanced to version 4.3.4.1 or later, which enforces authentication on the Node-RED HTTP interface. Users should apply this update promptly to mitigate the vulnerability. Detailed patch instructions and additional mitigation guidance are available at the Siemens ProductCERT portal: https://cert-portal.siemens.com/productcert/html/ssa-834709.html.
