CVE-2026-110645
Overview
This vulnerability is an OS command injection rooted in improper handling of file name inputs within the ArsalanDotMe video-stitch package. The flaw arises because file names passed to the concat(), cut(), or merge() functions are interpolated unquoted into shell-executed ffmpeg command lines. This lack of input sanitization in the video processing component allows shell metacharacters to be injected, directly affecting the Node.js process executing these commands.
Vulnerability Description
Video-stitch before 2.0.0-beta.1 contains an OS command injection vulnerability that allows attackers to execute commands by supplying file names interpolated unquoted into shell-executed ffmpeg command lines. Attackers who influence file names passed to concat(), cut(), or merge() can inject shell metacharacters to run commands with the Node.js process privileges.
Impact
An attacker with the ability to influence file names passed to video-stitch functions can execute arbitrary OS commands with the privileges of the Node.js process. This can lead to full system compromise, including unauthorized data access, modification, or destruction, and potential lateral movement within the environment. No authentication or user interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability, increasing the risk of remote exploitation and severe operational disruption.
Solution
Upgrade ArsalanDotMe video-stitch to version 2.0.0-beta.1 or later, where the issue is addressed. Refer to the official patch at https://github.com/ArsalanDotMe/VideoStitch/pull/26 and commit ba60353e6c3707e6ff5d89eb6d76c2c6cdb0df9b for implementation details. Applying these patches ensures proper sanitization and quoting of file names in shell commands, eliminating the injection vector.
