CVE-2026-110643
Overview
This vulnerability is an OS command injection in the kky-ykk transcribe2texts product, specifically affecting versions up to 1.0.6. The root cause is improper input sanitization of the audioPath parameter passed to the transcribeAudio() function, which is directly used in a child_process.exec() call without escaping. This allows injection of shell metacharacters such as $(), backticks, or closing quotes, enabling arbitrary command execution within the Node.js process context.
Vulnerability Description
transcribe2texts through 1.0.6 contains an OS command injection vulnerability that allows attackers to execute commands by supplying crafted audioPath values to transcribeAudio(). Attackers can inject $() or backtick substitution or a closing quote into the unescaped path passed to child_process.exec() to run commands with Node.js process privileges.
Impact
An attacker can execute arbitrary operating system commands with the privileges of the Node.js process running transcribe2texts, potentially leading to full system compromise. This can include reading or modifying sensitive data, installing malware, or pivoting to other network resources. No authentication or user interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability, making it accessible to remote attackers who can supply input to the transcribeAudio() function. The business impact includes data breaches, service disruption, and loss of system integrity.
Solution
Users of kky-ykk transcribe2texts should upgrade to a version later than 1.0.6 where the vulnerability is patched. The fix is available in the official GitHub repository via pull request #1, which properly escapes or sanitizes the audioPath input before passing it to child_process.exec(). Refer to https://github.com/kky-ykk/Transcribe2texts/pull/1 for patch details and instructions. Additional context and verification can be found in the advisory at https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/transcribe2texts-through-1.0.6-os-command-injection-via-transcribeaudio-audiopath.
