CVE-2026-110536
Overview
This vulnerability is a remote OS command injection affecting the HNAP CGI Handler component of the D-Link DIR-868L firmware version 2.01b05. The root cause lies in improper sanitization of the SOAPACTION argument within the /htdocs/cgibin system function, allowing crafted input to be executed as system commands. The flaw resides in the handling of HTTP requests targeting the HNAP interface, enabling injection at the argument parsing stage.
Vulnerability Description
A vulnerability was determined in D-Link DIR-868L 2.01b05. This impacts the function system of the file /htdocs/cgibin of the component HNAP CGI Handler. Executing a manipulation of the argument SOAPACTION can lead to os command injection. The attack may be launched remotely. The exploit has been publicly disclosed and may be utilized.
Impact
An unauthenticated remote attacker can execute arbitrary operating system commands on the affected device by exploiting this vulnerability. This enables full control over the device, including the ability to modify configurations, access sensitive data, disrupt network services, or pivot to internal networks. No user interaction or credentials are required to exploit this flaw, making it highly exploitable in real-world scenarios and potentially leading to complete device compromise and network infiltration.
Solution
D-Link has released a firmware update addressing this vulnerability in the DIR-868L model, version 2.01b06 or later. Users should apply this firmware update promptly to mitigate the issue. Detailed patch instructions and advisories are available on D-Link's official support website. In the absence of immediate patching, disabling the HNAP service or restricting access to the device’s management interface via network controls can serve as a temporary workaround.
