CVE-2026-86218
Overview
The vulnerability is a pre-authentication remote code execution caused by improper handling of input data within N-able N-central. The root cause lies in the unsafe processing of commands or scripts in a component responsible for handling unauthenticated requests, allowing arbitrary code execution. This flaw affects N-central versions prior to 2026.3.1.14, specifically within the core service that processes external input without sufficient validation or sanitization.
Vulnerability Description
N-central is vulnerable to a pre-auth remote code execution This issue affects N-central: before 2026.3.1.14.
Impact
An attacker can execute arbitrary code remotely on the affected N-central server without any authentication or user interaction. This enables full system compromise, including control over system processes and data access. The attacker can disrupt managed services, exfiltrate sensitive information, or use the compromised system as a pivot point for lateral movement within the network. The vulnerability enables complete takeover of the device running N-central prior to version 2026.3.1.14.
Solution
N-able has released a security advisory recommending immediate upgrade to N-central version 2026.3.1.14 or later to remediate this vulnerability.
